Sinterklaas en Zwarte Piet

Ver weg van Nederland, maar ook in Brno komen Sinterklaas en Zwarte Piet. Ze brengen mooie kadootjes en bakken zelfs pepernoten.

It is almost not translatable, but this is a real Dutch celebration of Saint Nicolas and his Black Petes. Normally only in The Netherlands, but today also in Brno.

Naar bed gaan kan een feest zijn, dat ook nog eens leukefoto's oplevert.

Quatre mains

Zoals al wel bekend hebben Matous en Christa pianoles van dezelfde lerares en nu hebben ze zelfs een oefening gekregen voor vier handjes, dus hebben ze daar veel plezier mee.

As most of you know by now, Matous and Christa have to same teacher for their pianolessons. Now they have received an exercise for four hands, which gives them great pleasure.

Tom's verjaardag/ Tom's birthday

Verjaardag of niet, uit bed komen is altijd wel lastig, maar Tom heeft wel een groot feest gehad. Bewust had Tom 2 vriendjes uitgenodigd en die waren ook gekomen. Samen spelen, eten en taart eten is groot feest.

Even on birthdays getting out of bed is hard, but Tom enjoyed his birthday. Tom had to think long, but then invited two of his friends for his party. The two friends came and they have had a good time.

Mats feestje/ Mats party

Een echte feest week met leuke dingen en ook nog een verjaardagsfeestje van Matous. Zijn vriendjes waren er en samen hebben ze gespeeld, gegeten, gezongen en dus veel plezier gemaakt.

We have had a great party week in which we also had a party for Mattys birthday. Some of his friends came, and they played together, and had fun together.

Dutch party

In een van de centra hebben we een Hollands feestje gehouden , wat heel leuk was. Mat en Tom waren vrij, dus hebben geholpen met Ren-je-rot. Een groot feest met veel oranje.

In one our centers we have had a Dutch party. Mat and Tom were free so they helped with the games and the food. A great party with a lot of orange.

Verjaardag / birthday

14 novemebr 2009 - Intocht van Sinterklaas in nederland, maar wij hebben lekker de verjaardag van Matous gevierd. Matous was blij met de vele kaarten, maar ook met zijn sterrekijker, die hij meteen heeft geprobeerd.

14 November 2009 - for Dutch people it meant that Sint Nicolas was coming into The Netherlands (is a very big celebration/ tradition), but we have celebrated Matous' birthday. Matous was happy to receive so many cards, but also with his presents, like to starwatcher, that he has tried straightaway.

Spelletjes/ Games

Sinds een paar weken is Tomas erg verslingerend geraakt aan spelletjes spelen. Eerst waren het alleen makkelijkere spelletjes, zoals Catan voor kinderen, Uno, maar nu will Tom zoveel mogelijk Catan Junior spelen. Eerst wist hijniet zo goed wat hij moets doen, maar nu is hij een echte "winner" geworden.

Since a couple of weeks we have a new gamer at home. At first Tomas wanted to play easy games, like Catan for children and Unpo, but now he wants to play the more challenging games like Catan Junior. At first Tomas was not sure what to do, but this has turned into a great "winner".

We hebben bezoek gehad van Jindra, Madri en Lily. Zoals te zien is, is Matous helemaal weg van baby Lily, want babies vindt hij echt geweldig. Natuurlijk moest ook laten horen hoe goed hij kan spelen op de piano.

Jindra, Madri and Lily cam to visit us. As you can see, Matous loves the baby Lily. And of course Matous had to show his skills on the piano.

Piano

Na een tijd rondgekeken te hebben, informatie ingewonnen hebben en wikken en wegen hebben we vandaag een electrische piano gekocht, om de lessen van Matous en Christa beter te ondersteunen. Pingelen op een keyboard is leuk, maar op een "echte"piano is natuurlijk veel beter.

After some time of getting information, consideration, we have bought an electric piano. This will support the lessons that Matous and Christa have in a better way. Just some notes playing on the keyboard is nice, but a "real" piano is much better.

Eerste sneeuw/ First snow

Volgens de jongens is de winter nu toch wel begonnen, omdat er de eerste sneeuw is gevallen.

According to the boys the winter has started, because the first (real) snow has fallen.

Halloween

We vieren niet echt Halloween, maar Christa en Mat waren bij een "viering"in Majak, een chrstelijk centrum, waar ook het evangelie van Jezus werd verteld, om mensen te wijzen op het licht dat we allemaal kunnen hebben. Natuurlijk was er ook het versieren van de pompoen en omdat Matous vorig jaar had gewonnen, wilde hij dit heel graag weer doen.

We are not really celebrating Halloween, but in Majak (christian center in Brno) was a celebration and Christa and Mat went there. This was for the missionaries in Majak also an opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus and point to the light we all can have in Jesus.

Obviously there was also the carving of the pumpkin and because Matous had won last year, he wanted to join this year again.

Experimenten/ experiments

In Brno was een tentoonstelling van spelletjes en experimenten en de jongens konden alles proberen, zoals werken met handschoenen aan, schrijven met een machine, luchtkanon, brug bouwen en nog veel meer.

In Brno was an exhibition of games and experiments. the boys could try everything, like working with gloves on, writing with a machine, aircanon, building a bridge and many more things.

Lekker pizza/ Eating pizza

Matous was met Christa in de stad voor de bril en ze hadden Carolina meegenomen. Matous heeft Carolina uitgenodigd voor pizza, want volgens Tom hebben we de beste pizza in Brno gevonden (Christa is het daar niet helemaal mee eens).

Matous went into town with Christa to order the glasses and they had asked Carolina to come as well. Matous invited Carolina to come for pizza, because according to Tom we have found the best pizza in Brno (but Christa does not agree with him).

Een nieuwe Mat/ A new Mat

Nee, er is geen nieuwe baby op komst, maar Matous heeft straks een nieuw uiterlijk. Mat's ogen zijn een beetje achteruitgegaan, dus heeft hij een bril voorgeschreven gekregen. Dit is de bril die besteld is (hebben 'm nog niet).

No, There is no baby coming, but Matous eyes have gotten worse, so he needs glasses and these are the glasses we have ordered.
